Visual Arts and Performing Arts

Live Oak Middle School offers a wide variety of options with respect to the Visual and Performing Arts. Students have the opportunity to take these classes as electives and expand their horizons in the arts. Many of our groups perform at various events both on campus and throughout the community during the school year.

Marching Band and Colorguard
This is our largest performance group consisting of about 75 musicians and color guard members. Students hone their skills both in class and at after school practices. In teh fall, the marching band performs at the Tulare County Fair Parade, the Fowler Band Review, and the Tulare Band Showcase. This talented group of young people frequently win a number of awards during thier competition season. In the winter and spring months, the students turn their attention to concert band and perform various concerts in the evening at Live Oak Middle School.

Jazz Band
Our jazz band is comprised of about 25 musicians and is a performance group that can been seen throughout our community. The jazz band entertains us with their catchy tunes at Back to School Night, Open House, school assemblies, and at various events throughout the valley. Students have the opportunity to attend multiple jazz festivals where they are able to perform and get feedback from top music educators from the valley. Every November, Live Oak hosts their own Jazz Festival for all jazz bands in Tulare City School District.

Choir
The Live Oak Choir continues to grow with each new school year. This group performs at our annual Veteran's Day assembly, Winter Concert, Spring Sing, and at our graduation ceremony.

Performing Arts
The performing arts class is offered as an elective class during the school day for students who are interested in Theater Arts. Students learn various aspects of performance and stage productions and practice their skills throughout the school year. Every year in the Spring, the Performing Arts class hosts a performance day with students showing off their skills in a variety of one act plays.

School Musical
Every year, students at Live Oak Middle School perform in a school musical. Students perform both on stage and behind the scenes taking care of everything from passing out programs during the performance to lighting, sound, and set design.
